How To Utilize Florida’s Road Rangers

Hi this is Mark Thush, I’m an accident attorney practicing personal injury law here in Florida. In today’s video we discuss what are the Road Rangers traveling on Florida’s Interstates.

Road Rangers is a FREE SERVICE provided by the Florida Department of Transportation. Their mission is to provide free highway assistance services during incidents to reduce delay and improve safety for both the public and first responders. Since the program began in 2000, the Road Rangers have made almost 4 million service assists, or about 400 thousand assists per year and that number increases daily.

The Road Rangers program was initially used for the management of vehicle incidents in construction zones. As a result of it’s tremendous success the program has expanded to respond to all types of incidents and has become one of the most effective elements of the Department of Transportation incident management program. The Road Rangers provide a direct service to motorists by quickly clearing travel lanes of minor incidents and assisting motorists. Services can include: providing a limited amount of fuel, assisting with a tire change and other types of minor emergency repairs. Road Ranger’s are typically assigned to work along major interstate corridors and within construction areas on the interstates.

Road Rangers developed out of necessity and as a result of great public importance protecting the general public from harm in construction zones. This program continues to evolve to assist vehicles on urban freeways allowing traffic to continue moving safely. To contact the Road Rangers simply dial *FHP or (*347) for Road Ranger Dispatch.

  1. I’m so thankful for the amazing service the Road Rangers provide. Florida is amazing to have this program! Today I blew a tire on I90 right out of St. Augustine, had a car full of girls headed home after a couple beach days. The road ranger arrive as we were struggling to find help. With his wonderful help of changing the tire we managed to get back on the road for home safely and sooner than waiting for roadside assistance!! Thankyou for this wonderful service!!

  2. So very grateful for the service the Road Rangers provide. I did not know they existed until last Saturday evening. I got a blowout on the Florida Turnpike. I called my road service provider (AARP) at 6:20 pm. To make a long story short(er) I was still waiting at 8:50 pm. I was actually on the phone (again) with AARP when a tow truck pulled up behind me. A gentleman came to my window, asked if I needed help and when I said “yes” he said he could get me out of there in 10 minutes. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I am 71 years old, disabled and have to admit I was a little more than anxious in the breakdown lane for two and one half hours with trucks moving over 80 miles per hour. Three cars actually drove over the white line into the breakdown lane while I was stuck there.
God Bless this and ALL the wonderful Road Rangers for their help.
