Statistics: Teenagers Texting & Emailing While Driving

This is Attorney Mark Thush and today I’d like to share some recent statistics regarding teenager’s texting and emailing while driving.

A recent federal study shows dramatic improvement in the driving habits of U.S. high school student, but texting by teenagers behind the wheel is a concern.

1 in 3 high school students recently reported that they had texted or emailed while driving during the previous 30 days. The percentage of those who had texted or emailed while driving was higher for upper classmen, with nearly 43 percent of 11th graders and 58 percent of 12th graders.

Texting or emailing while driving a car can have deadly consequences. But not all news is bad since this survey also revealed more teenagers are wearing seatbelts and fewer are driving after drinking. If you have a teenager or know a teenager you might share this video with them and their friends.
